| Skagaheiði -- isolated and bleak, yet one of the most starkly beautiful and striking places I have ever visited. I took a day to drive around the whole peninsula, mostly in the rain. I remember stopping to photograph a small farm situated by the water facing north, and thinking, as I looked out across the ocean, "Next stop the North Pole."
Although it is "off the beaten path," I still find it surprising that hardly anyone else who has posted photographs of Iceland on the web seems to have visited Skagaheiði. I hope you enjoy these few photographs of this rarely-visited part of the island. |
