Kirkjubæjarklaustur
Kirkjubæjarklaustur was the base-camp for my second trip to Iceland, in 1973, after a long eight-year wait. I must admit that at first I was disappointed with the landscape after the perhaps more spectacular north that I remembered from my previous trip. Soon, however, I began to appreciate the attractions of this unique and beautiful part of Iceland, which I strongly recommend to anyone who wants to venture from the tourist centres of the south-west but has insufficient time to visit the interior, the north, or any of the more remote regions.
